The Obama Condom

Not surprisingly, marketers always seem to find a way to exploit current events. Well, they've done it again…Obama condoms for sale. They even have their own slogan "use with good judgment". Classy.

While it's likely motivated more by the publicity opportunity, at least there is a potentially positive social benefit. Teen pregnancies and proliferation of sexually transmitted diseases is rampant among minority populations.

Obama has the chance to be a great role model for all minority children, not just African Americans. His winning of the election has shown minority children, particularly impoverished African Americans, that they can make a difference, and they do have a chance to be successful.

I'm not sure whether having Obama as president will help or hinder the cause of racial peace. But I have to believe that the fact that Americans, white, black and every other colour, have elected a minority to the White House should have a positive influence on race relations on "Main Street".

So whether you buy Obama condoms just for fun, or because their availability persuaded you to be more sexually responsible, you're purchasing an interesting piece of Presidential kitsche :)
